Teeny red cut on gum - is a tooth coming?

DS (6 months) had disturbed night last night and has been a bit unsettled for a few days. This morning I noticed a dark red mark on his lower gum, in the centre - looks like a little cut, not much bigger than a pinprick. Is that what it looks like when they're cutting a tooth? No other symptoms. If it is a tooth, how soon will it come?

is probably a tooth, could be days or weeks before it comes though.

yes it looks just like that, with my dd her lower 2 came through the night after that litle mark was spotted...

Aagh - the mark has disappeared! DP (medical) reckons this means the tooth started to push through but has now 'paused' and the gum's healed over temporarily, which presumably means DS will have to go through it all again at some point ... this could take forever! Has this happened to anyone else?

Just for the record, the tooth finally pushed through yesterday - 2 MONTHS after the first cut!!! (And in exactly the same spot.) No fuss though, so I'm not complaining

Should be looking like a grain of rice now then??!!
Only an other 19 to go . Get the Calpol in!!

Exactly like that, poppyseed! Yes, we had a bad night last night (2 doses of Calpol!) so I think #2 is on its way. Think I'll get an early night ...
