Booked in to have my smear test done today (booked over 6 weeks ago but due to having implant in I don’t get regular periods just occasional spotting)..... have had spotting last few days but seemed to have almost stopped this morning - can I still get the smear test done this afternoon? Just worried if I don’t go it will take another month or so to get in and I’ve already put it off so long... thanks all

I would just get it done - it is now full blown bleeding and if you keep having to find a better time, it will not happen.

If it turns out to be no good, they will call you back after 6 months, but otherwise you will be able to forget about it.

Just go and if the nurse can't do it the smear will be re arranged,how frustrating though

Bit late now but for anyone ready;

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. Implant causes constant bleeding for me, etc. I am on meds to control bleeding. I thought it was light but nurse took sample and said it was quite bloody. 50/50 whether they would get a result. She said as it wasnt going to get any lighter, shw might as well give it a shot. If its not testable they would call me back, and then after a second unsuccessful test they would probably refer me.

Also, if you arent on anything to control bleeding, they may offer you something to help stop it so you can get a clear reading. The nurse suggested this to me, but I am already doing this. It normally helps but not at the moment for me.
