Ibs or something else?

I have suffered off and on over the years with ibs type symptoms but has never been regular enough for me to go to the docs. But a few weeks ago I had an episode after having a takeaway curry that was spicier than expected, I had days of uncomfortable stomach griping pain and bloated feeling along with lots of toilet trips.
After having a plain diet for a few days I was back to normal but this morning after having some fried bread I got the same griping pains followed by urgent need to go the loo, it feels like sort of wind pains, and last time I did have lots of wind but not this time, I feel much better after going to the loo a few times. The cramp/ griping /bloated feeling is the very top of my stomach, is this where it would be felt if it was ibs?
I shall make a trip to the doc but would like to hear any advice or experience first.

Don't rule out gallbladder

I had similar to you, D&V, spasm pains (worse after cheddar -high fat)
I was getting weird kicking sensations, (like a baby kicking but I'm not pg)

Scan showed gallstone, colonoscopy showed IBS (Diverticulitis ) , I'm a glutton for punishment me Wink

I am gallbladder-less but get gripping pinching pains on my left side , if I eat fatty food I still get a sharp pain on my right ( I am under gastro consultant )

Flowers its a bally pain !

IBS symptoms vary hugely so there isn't really a "normal". You're sensible to get it checked out as it could be any number of things. IBS should only be diagnosed once other conditions have been excluded. Good luck with the doctor Flowers

That is how I feel when I am having a IBS flare.
I have been to the Docs and had all tests to rule out anything else.
There is no rhyme or reason with my IBS and can go for long periods being ok then have some discomfort most days for a week or so.

That's exactly how IBS is for me

Look at the fodmap diet, you can narrow down trigger foods and elongate them.
To do it properly it's hard but worth it to know what's setting it off

*eliminate !

Thanks folks, I did wonder about gallbladder actually as well but didn't think it would cause the diarrhea, I will pay the doc a visit as at the very least I want to know if there's anything I can take for the cramps whilst I'm breastfeeding.
