Ruptured hemorrhagic ovarian cyst

After a lot of abdominal pain and being led to believe it was ibs, an ultrasound scan has indicated that I've had a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst that has ruptured. Wondering if this has caused a number of symptoms eg breast tenderness, bowel pain, prickly sensation in abdomen, pain near belly button, night sweats and sore glands, possibly even dry eyes. Apparently I need to have another scan in a few months. I expect they're waiting for it to disappear but I wonder when it ruptured and if there's any infection/other risks. Has anyone else experienced this?

I posted a few weeks back with a haemorragic cyst - mine hadn’t ruptured when I posted (and think it’s still there as still in pain!). Doctors were unsure whether it’s a haemorragic cyst or an endometrioma but plumped for the former as I don’t have any other clear symptoms of endometriosis.

My symptoms are making me feel pretty pants and are similar to yours:

  • pain in my right abdomen (sometimes also my left). Both sharp and dull pain, as well as what I’d describe as ‘burning’ pain - could be similar to your prickly pain? Near my belly button and down towards my groin.
  • dull lower back pain and the odd funny pains at the top of my legs
  • MEGA bloating (have been congratulated on my pregnancy Hmm
  • breathlessness on exertion / fast heart rate
  • breast tenderness (only my right one).

In my case, I have another scan in a few weeks (six weeks after identified). I believe that’s to see what’s gone - with a hope that it is gone.

However, my pain is still pretty bad and my breathlessness debilitating so I have used the private health cover I have through work to get seen quicker.

So... not exactly the same as you - but i searched when I posted about my cyst and didn’t get any responses... so not sure if there’s many people who have had this?

I have found some useful medical forums with more experiences on this. I believe the contents of the cyst should be reabsorbed. I don’t know about infection I’m afraid.

I hope your pain is dying down. Feel free to message me if you like.

Thank you for posting as I haven't found much info. I've also had palpitations and breathlessness but didn't make the link! My pain hasn't completely gone but it isn't constant like it was before. I have to go bed now but will message soon.

Not at all! The breathing / palpitation thing is quite reassuring - I’ve found thIs pretty debilitating.
Glad your pain is subsiding... long may it continue!
