Should I be concerned Re: Nosebleeds - Advice please

For some time now I have been experiencing nosebleeds. I have put it down to weak vessels, and continuous nose blowing!! I suffer badly with hayfever, and various allergies and always seem to have a runny nose. However, the nosebleeds are now more frequent (at least one or two every day), only from the left nostril! Is this normal?? This usually occurs first thing in the morning, as soon as I get out of bed, they aren't necessarily heavy and they do not seem to last long, however these are now getting annoying. Any ideas or experiences?!?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have been having nosebleeds since I was about 12 weeks. I can't remember ever having one before then. Mine are the same, only one nostril!! I have 1 most days - sometimes up to 3. I mentioned in to the doctor who said that it's quite common to have nosebleeds in pregnancy due to the extra blood flowing around. Said I must have a weak blood vessel in that nostril!......
Better to mention it to Doc if you are worried.

Thanks gingertoo for reassurance, however I'm not pregnant. Hopefully diagnosis is still the same and just a weak blood vessel.

If you have any other symptoms I'd get it checked out. A school friend suffered from nose bleeds quite badly and had to have her vessels cauterised.

Also another just recently had them for the past 3 weeks (they were gushing type ones though), turns out he has high blood pressure.

Brownsuga - What other symptoms did your friend have?? Blood pressure was checked yesterday, and was fine. Should have mentioned nosebleeds then, but although they are worrying me didn't feel it was a problem to see Doctor about, now feel perhaps I should reconsider.

Fimbles, at a guess, it's probably related to your hayfever. The lining of your nose is probably inflammed and you may have a fragile blood vessel that bleeds on and off. Over-enthusiastic nose blowing can can nosebleeds and you probably do a lot of that in the morning! Some people have really heavy nosebleeds and they need to have it checked out. If yours are only light, your bp is fine then I wouldn't worry.

When i was at school i had terrible nosebleeds for years which were attributed to hayfever.

Thankyou Jalopy - Just the reassurance I needed. X
