Ongoing abdominal pain, possible causes??

My dd is 24 and for the last approx 6 weeks has been suffering from abdominal pain almost constantly. Lower Right side - we originally thought possible appendicitis but has not gone that way. Mostly a bit higher anyway. Had an USS of womb/ovaries which showed nothing abnormal other than PCOS which she knew about already. Awaiting general abdominal USS but not for a few weeks yet.
Is taking strong painkillers constantly which helps but does not completely get rid of pain. Worse on walking about a lot - her job requires standing/walking around a lot (restaurant) so has been off work for a few weeks as in too much pain to do it.
Has had blood tests - liver/renal/FBC and more but nothing significant there.
Any ideas??

Would that cause pain like this??

Constant pain I mean, surely endometriosis would be more linked to periods.

Anyone else have any thoughts/experiences please?

No, endometriosis pain isn’t necessary linked to periods. For some it is but not all. I have constant, daily pain from endo unfortunately.

It’s incredibly difficult to diagnose because women present so so differently with it.

Of course it might not be endometriosis. But I had the same symptoms you’re describing and for me it was.

Also came on to suggest endometriosis - pain can continue throughout your cycle, unfortunately, and can present in various places depending on where the growths are - pain in abdomen, back, hips and legs are all very common.

I’d go with endo too.... but couldn’t PCOS be causing pain?. I’m currently suffering with similar - though they have found a small haemorragic cyst (which may be an endometrioma.... time will tell). I’ve been told that the cyst should be sorted by now and that it’s small enough to not be causing material issues. However, I’m in blooming agony, fast heart rate and high blood pressure. Bloated, no appetite and feel constantly knackered. If I had lots of cysts like the one I have.. I would be on my knees.

Could any of the cysts be endometrioma? If so, they could be sore.... and can be painful all day, every day.

One other thing- could you push the date for the abdominal ultrasound? Though if the pain is due to cysts, they may not show (think internal is much better). Endo also wouldn’t show.

If it helps, I got referred to a gynae triage unit at my local hospital who did an abdominal and vaginal ultrasound as soon as I arrived (went straight from GP). Do you have anything similar near you?

Not sure if this is much help- but I do very much sympathise. I hope you get some answers soon.

Thanks all, I will look into endometriosis more. Weirdly my sister has it and also has a few other health problems in common with dd - like hyper mobility. Will speak to my sister and see what she thinks too.
