Mid cycle bleeding

Just really fed up as have had weird gynae symptoms for months and can't get it taken seriously by any GP because my last smear (3 years ago) was normal, I had a transvaginal ultrasound in March last year which was clear and I'm young (27).

Symptoms are:

  • mid cycle bleeding which I KNOW is not just ovulation bleeding as it's dark brown and goes on for days and days. I'm currently on day 6 of it and it's enough that I have to wear a panty liner.
  • period pain AFTER my period has ended. Like clockwork, 2 days after the end of my period I get 2-3 days of strong period pain.
  • constant recurrent episodes of cystitis (I've suffered with this for many year)

All the above has been an issue since the birth of my son 2 years ago. I thought perhaps endometriosis but my GP said no as otherwise I would have had fertility problems.

Obviously I am terrified of cancer (I do suffer from anxiety). I am thinking of going to see a private gynae.

Any thoughts? Does it sound like it could be endometriosis?

I'm not on hormonal contraceptives.

Cyclical pain like you have and continue to experience should be checked out further by a gynaecologist to ascertain the underlying cause. Something is causing this and it may well be endometriosis; this is a common cause of such pain (it also does not show up on internal ultrasound scans).

It is generally believed that 60–70% of women with endometriosis are fertile so the GP you saw may well be wrong here re this not being endometriosis because of that. I would see another GP within the practice and would ask to be referred to a specialist.

I would also keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do this as this could also give the gynae clues.

Thank you for your reply. I am mainly freaked out about cervical cancer.
