A bit worried :(

Last July I went to the doctors because of enlarged lymph nodes in my neck/base of head and night sweats. I was referred for a chest x-ray (which has been lost) and an ultrasound on the lymph nodes but my original appt was cancelled and I've still not been sent a new one.

Naturally, Googling hasn't been a good thing to do but I'm getting a bit worried that something might be wrong and I still haven't really been seen by anyone properly yet.

My lymph nodes are quite large, I sweat absolutely buckets at night - have to change my clothes etc, I'm horrendously itchy all the time and so bone tired. I don't have much of an appetite but feel full all the time/feel bloated. I do have Crohn's and feel I'm being fobbed off a bit as so often I'll have things be dismissed as 'just part of your Crohn's' just the same as so many other people with autoimmune illnesses. I've had Crohn's for the past 10 years though and this doesn't seem right.

Should I push to get my ultrasound done sooner rather than later?

Yes you need to push for it. Not acceptable you are still waiting. Have you had blood taken etc?

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 06/02/2018 22:57

My bloods are taken every 6 weeks because of the medication I'm on for my Crohn's. They're only sent to my consultant though - my GP wouldn't see them unless specifically told to look at them.

Please go back to your GP. It may be nothing serious (it could be the menopause). I really don't want to frighten or upset you but I had those symptoms and it turned out to be Hodgkins Lymphoma. I'm almost 10 years cancer free and doing great so please don't panic but it's really important you follow it up. I had a chest X-ray followed by blood tests which looked at my white cell count etc and eventually a CT scan. Trust your instincts if you really don't feel it's Crohns related. I'm truly sorry for worrying you. I keep hovering over delete but I really do care Thanks

I also agree that it could well be nothing serious - but it's best to go back to your GP just to make sure

Just to update - my itching has increased massively, so I went back to the GP this week and he referred me back for a scan which should be soon. He also requested some extra blood tests to check my thyroid and hormone levels.

However, he rang me back this morning and said he's decided to also refer me to a haematologist and that I'll get an appt within the next week as he considered it quite urgent. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he just wants to get my lymph nodes double checked ASAP.

Keeping everything crossed for you x

Had my appt with the haemotologist today and she’s said I have an under active thyroid but will also be sending me for a CT scan to check the rest of my lymph nodes because they are still so raised on my head and neck. Hopefully it is just the thyroid that’s been causing me problems.
