Pilonidal cyst?

I have a cyst type of thing in my bum crack 😩
It’s a recurring one, over the last year. It’s not on my tailbone and doesn’t cause pain (whereas I’ve read pilonidal cyst really blooming hurt)
It’s midway between my bum hole and sacral dimple, a blind smallish lump that doesn’t have a head on it, but looks like it is slightly weeping (a bit like a burn or small blister)
When I’ve had one before it’s just gone on it’s own but this one has been hanging around for about 10 days.
I’ve made the mistake of googling pilonidal cysts and have terrified myself, even though I can’t see a sinus track hole or have any pain.
I have some erythromycin in the house, which I’ve googled are used for skin infections. Would I’ve foolish to take a course?

I know the grown up thing would be to see a gp but I’m being a bit of an ostrich about it.

This is definitely a ‘get it sorted sooner rather than later’ thing rather than a ‘wait and see’.

I had one years ago op! Bloody painful it was and then had to have an op to have the pus sucked out and the core cut out. Go and see your doc before it gets bigger as it's an open wound after the op and had to be packed daily, you want the hole to be as small as possible!

My doc said it was caused by my waist length hair staying in my bum crack after a shower and entering the skin bleurgh!

I've had one before too, the docs said they would drain it on the Friday and it burst at work on the thurs..it smelt SO bad and it was horrendous, stained the chair my clothes and my car seat. I then had to get in the empty bath and poke it to try and get the gunk out (couldn't see what I was doing and no one to help me) had to go have it properly drained and then every day to get nurse to pack it for me and change dressings.

I would SO go to docs at first sign of another one to try avoid that again so ring them in the morning!!

Ok, I’ll go to the gp’s!
But it doesn’t hurt at all and it’s not pus filled, it’s more like a raised sore.
Were all the ones you’ve described in the actual bum crack or on the coccyx area?

Mine was like a hard lump and didn't feel gooey at all before it burst. It was right top of the butt crack Grin lovely!

I’ve had one for about 20 years!! The bastard flares up every few months. Had an op on it about 15 years ago- which failed. During a big flare up about 7 years ago my eldest kicked me in it whilst I was asleep, causing it to explode and bleed, awful at the time but it seems to have done me a favour as ever since it usually only flares for 2/3 days then always drains by itself!

Lovely! Grin
