Bone marrow fat?

My consultant recently ordered an MRI of my foot pre an Op for tarsal tunnel issues.
Whilst looking at the scan with me he said there where a lot of 'white inidcators' re bone marrow fat.
Then he felt my foot in the area to see if there were sensitivities (there were). But I pointed out it was the other foot. He is a diligent person but was having phone calls coming in and his bleeper was going mad.
So he then said, if both feet affected prob not?
Later, I wondered whether it is possible both feet (and possibly my hips, also an issue) could be affected by the bone marrow thing?
He is about to leave area and I dont want to bother him.
But he is the only decent one in that Dept.
Do you think it would be wrong to email him and ask?
