Pleurisy

Hi
Has anyone had pleurisy? I was in hospital at the weekend due to sharp chest pain that has gradually got worse over the space of a week. I had ECG, bloods and chest X-ray and thankfully heart came back healthy and no blood clots. Dr said it must be pleurisy but I don’t have any breathing problems, nor do I have a cough.
Since this morning I’ve been pains in my left arm, it keeps going heavy (bit like a dead arm) and I’m getting pins and needles in my arm. I’m not in agony but just uncomfortable. Has anyone had this with pleurisy?
I don’t want to call the GP again as feel a bit of a hypercondriac after being referred to hospital and not having much wrong with me...

I have had pleurisy and didn't have any arm pain or pins and needles. I suppose there is a possibility that you have been holding yourself differently because of the pain- mine caused me to limp quite badly. But arm pain and heaviness isn't something I'd be happy to take a chance on!

It took three GP visits and two hospital referrals to fully diagnose and treat me, so don't feel bad about needing more medical attention.

I had pleurisy and it was horrible. I could breath fine and had no cough. It would just “catch” every now and then. I got it when I was stressed and lost a lot of weight.

Could you have hurt your rib cage?

I couldn't walk to the end of the road when I had it first. I've had mildly now for nearly 3 years but they just give me painkillers.

My symptoms sound similar to yours believe. The ibu has definitely reduced the chest pain but still got a funny arm. I’ve got a follow up apt in 10 days time so I’ll mention my arm to the doctor then.
I just don’t feel particularly unwell, apart from pains and a bit of fatigue I’m totally fine which doesn’t seem to really fit with pleurisy
