Boosting immune system

Lilsquish · 29/01/2018 20:25

My LG is 13 months and every 6 to 8 weeks is contracting a cold.

She then passes it to me (iv never had so many colds!! 🤢)

Any tips on boosting her (and my) immune system.

Suppliments/foods etc x

Totally normally at that age to get lots of colds, nothing wrong with her immune systemSmile

The best supplement to take over winter is vitamin d as we need sunlight to make it.
I gather omega 3 is also good.
Getting enough sleep and eating healthily are the other main things you can do.

It's all part of their immune system developing although can be really tough as you only seem to get them (and you) over one bout of illness to be hit with another. I learned with my 2nd that we avoided baby groups etc over the bad winter months, and I just tried to expose them to others as little as possible ie telling relatives to stay away if they have a virus. You'd be amazed how much that helps. My DDs only ever had norovirus once as I'd keep them well away from school if there was an outbreak!

lots of soups may help. Even if it just keeps you ‘topped up’ vitamin wise and helps you to fight colds. And washing hands regularly.

I agree, less groups helps. Also learnt that with my second! They are total germ pits.

Thanks!

Yeah she does go to a few different baby classes :-S

Probiotics and elderberry syrup

I second probiotics, particularly kefir. Also, swapping to redbush tea is really helpful.
