Little boy has chickenpox, has lump in his neck, swollen gland or should I worry?

Ok, already worrying because this lump is quite noticeable. It is towards the back of head below his ear and only one side. I cannot feel any raised glands anywhere else. It has scared me quite a bit.

Has anyone else had a child with only one swollen gland and does it feel like a noticeable lump?

Best Wishes

My son has a lump on one side of his neck, I have got one also, and one in my jaw. Think they are normal tbh.
Does it move around and feel like a round lump?

Hi thanks for your reply. It does feel round but I am not sure whether you can move it or not. A bit pea like. He doesn't like me touching it too much but I guess understandably with chickenpox bless him.

Regards
Kirsty

Would maybe consider taking him to the GP and pointing out the lump, particularly if he's showing any worse-than-usual symptoms (chickenpox, apart from the spots, is mainly a mild fever and being a bit grumpy).

When it's the health of a small child, most GPs wouold far rather spend a couple of minutes assuring you that there's nothing to worry about than have a patient not want to bother the doctor only for something to be seriously wrong.

Mind you, you could try calling NHS Direct. I've always found them fairly helpful.
