My bum.

This is so embarrassing I’ve obviously NC’d

For months now I’ve had what I can only describe as huge under the skin spots in between my bum cheeks. It’s like hard, red, painful massive under the skin spot. Sometimes there’s no head to pop or anything and sometimes there is but when I pop it to try and relieve some of the pain blood just squirts out and then it’s like an open wound and I just irritate it more :(

At first I wasn’t overly concerned as they were far and few but now I’m getting them constantly, one eventually goes and the next reappears. It’s painful and embarrassing and I’m also worried something more serious is wrong. They’re definitely not spots but I have no idea what they are! It’s making it hard for me to sit down even though I only have one at a time it’s so painful.

Has anyone had anything similar? My husband keeps telling me to go see a doctor but I’m so embarrassed even at the thought of doing that.

I have good personal hygiene so I don’t think it’s anything related to that. Please help!

Are they erupting roughly in the same area? It could be a pilonidal sinus?

BoilyButt88 · 26/01/2018 21:31

Thanks for your reply. Just googled and it’s not that and much further down I have to squat so my bum cheeks are separated in order for me to squeeze or even to have a look. It’s like a hard painful red lump, probably about 3cm wide? Not very good with measurements. It does look like a under the skin huge spot but it’s definetely not actually a spot!

Is it at the top of your bum crack? If so is probably a pilonidal sinus as the PP said. I had one for years and it was the bane of my life. Every month it would appear around my period and be absolute agony!! I had it operated on about 5 times but it kept on coming back. It finally disappeared after I got put onto antibiotics for 3 months for hormonal acne. I haven't had it for around 4 years now so hoping it's finally gone!! Try not to be embarrassed and go see your doctor. Good luck x

Go to the doctor, they are not remotely surprised by these things they see them every day. Life’s too short to go through it with massive spots on your arse.

Rudgie47 · 26/01/2018 21:40

Its not embarrassing at all, but a PITA for you. Please go to the DRs and get to the bottom of what it is.You need it sorting out.

JennyOnAPlate · 26/01/2018 21:40

Hidradenitis supperativa?

compostheap · 26/01/2018 21:41

Hidradenitis suppurativa, maybe?
Go to your GP though - I am one, and I see bums all the time!

AntiHop · 26/01/2018 21:41

Please see your gp. I promise you they have seen it all before. There's nothing to be embarrassed about.

Can't be worse than when a consultant did a rectal exam on me, and the two trainee doctors did it too so they could practice!

CremeFresh · 26/01/2018 21:45

I've got one of these but it's right in my knicker line. It's a really hard lump, no head and hurts like hell. Definitely see your GP op.

WillowySnicket · 26/01/2018 21:50

Staphylococcus aureus? These hurt like hell. They don't always have a yellow bit on top and if you squeeze them they often feel hard and inflamed. Antibiotics and hibiscrub!

BoilyButt88 · 26/01/2018 22:00

Thank you so much for your responses!

Hidradenitis supperativa

^^ I think this is it!! I googled it and obviously the images are extreme cases which thankfully mine isn’t but it sounds/looks very similar.

Staphylococcus aureus

^^ this also sounds like it, as does follicitus or whatever it’s called.

I need to go see the doctor don’t I :( I know they must see this all the time but I know if I was a GP and someone came in first thing in the morning and spread their buttcheeks open in my face I would be thinking what a minger they were and wanting to barf.

I’m so, so embarrassed and really hoping this would go away by itself but it’s been so long now :(

I recently have had two full bum examinations, one was at 8am on a Monday morning and the second I was last appointment of the day at 7pm. Neither were as embarrassing as anticipated and I was fed up with having a sore bum. Doctors are there to help us and wouldn’t be doctors if they weren’t up for dealing with unpleasant things. Not many people go to the gp with pleasant things I doubt! Good luck

SmartyPants0 · 27/01/2018 13:25

Do not i repeat DO NOT Google the suggested diagnosis...
Op,go to the Dr's before it does look like the pictures x
