unexplained weight loss

I went to Dr as I have lost a lot of weight in the last few months without trying (52 going through menopause and hypothyroid so weight is difficult to lose) roughly a stone and a half, plus I am exhausted all the time, constipated with night sweats. No other symptoms. Had a chest x ray this week - no results yet.
The Dr told me that she wanted to run a variety of tests as she has to make sure there is not a problem anywhere.
Just asking if anyone else has gone through this as I am a little frightened. Any reassuring stories out there?

Thanks for replying, I had a thyroid check in October and all was normal, levels have not changed recently. i thought the same as I was hyperthyroid before my partial thyroidectomy in 1996.
I am normally very laid back but I have to admit I am a bit scared.

If it's not too personal a question, what weight were you before the loss? Just wondering if maybe you had a fair bit to lose or if you feel underweight now.

Have you changed your eating habits at all?

EmpireVille · 25/01/2018 21:40

Also, I am wondering if the night sweats are a menopausal thing. You're the right sort of age.

Any abdo pain? How is your appetite?

TheLibraryIsOpen · 26/01/2018 17:26

My weight was 12 stone 4 and is now 10 stone 10, my appetite is good and there have been no changes to eating habits - I have been vegetarian for 18 months.
I have had an update from the chest x ray and there is something on the left hand side and I need to have a CT scan but not sure when. I am having an endoscopy on Wednesday 31st.
I am even more scared since speaking to my doctor today but will wait and see what happens now.
Thank you for the responses.

Being vegetarian is a change in eating habits, no?

TheLibraryIsOpen · 27/01/2018 18:14

But not recent though, as I said I have been a vegetarian for 18 months now.

How are OP? Have you had the test results back?
I hope you are feeling better.

TheLibraryIsOpen · 05/02/2018 08:51

Thank you for asking KingIrving. I had the endoscopy and that was all clear. I have a CT scan with contrast dye on Wednesday which I am dreading although the rational side of my mind is saying it is nothing. I have bloods this morning, thank heavens my job are being really sweet about time off.
I have to say the NHS has been marvellous. Will update after the scan.

Just sending some good vibes from Sydney.

TheLibraryIsOpen · 15/02/2018 21:01

Thank KingIrving the results of CT scan were clear thank heavens. I have got to have another one on my stomach and had another series of blood tests done but I feel much more positive :)
Thank you for asking.
