What the Hell is wrong with my right hand?

Went to bed last night, right hand was perfectly normal.

Woke this morning and the top of my wrist + the top of my hand nearest wrist was really painful.

It's getting worse and the area is very slightly swollen. It is so painful and I can't really use my right hand.

Help? Any idea what I've done?

Could you have been bitten by something? I could understand it hurting from sleeping in an uncomfortable position but then it wouldn't be swollen.

No, can't see anything like a bite? It's only very slightly swollen. Can you just wake up with something like carpal tunnel syndrome?

When I had carpal tunnel my hand felt dead but not painful and once I exercised it and stretched it the feeling come back. How is it now? Is it still painful?

TheOtherGirl · 22/01/2018 16:48

Doesn't feel dead at all, and no tingling. Had to resort to taking co codamol for the pain, so it's better at the moment. Back of my hand still very slightly swollen though, from my wrist to halfway to my knuckles.

Try taking an anti histamine, it cant hurt and it sound like something has bitten you. Often you cant see a bite mark when it is swollen. If it doesnt respond you can look for other possibilities

You don't remember knocking it or falling or anything yesterday? Are you able to move it more now?

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2018 21:03

Could you have slept on it? I have done this before. I wake up lying on my stomach and my hand is underneath me and sort of bent backwards. It’s then really painful, as if I’ve sprained it.

TheOtherGirl · 22/01/2018 21:45

I'm sure I haven't bumped it or anything? All I can think is that maybe I slept on it awkwardly? I did sleep very deeply last night, as didn't get any sleep the night before.

How is your hand today op? I think you should see your gp if it's no better.

TheOtherGirl · 23/01/2018 12:46

Thank you, it is much better. I think I must have somehow slept on it awkwardly?
