What does your frozen shoulder feel like?

I have been diagnosed with a frozen shoulder. I have been in pain for 18 months now and had 3 steroid injections and lots of physio, but it hasn't helped so the next step is surgery. My worry is that the diagnosis is wrong. The pain is worse in my outer upper arm. Does anyone else find that? Or is it only in your actual shoulder joint? Or could it be something else? I have had breast cancer and the most common place for it to spread is the bones, so I'm wondering whether to insist on a scan (Although I am scared of what it might show).

Thank you.

Hi, the pain i had from frozen shoulder went down as far as my elbow and was agony. Like you, the pain was more in arm than shoulder, the shoulder was stuck but pain was elsewhere. I had hydrodilation which was a miracle in my case as it was too frozen for physio and a steroid injection failed. Wishing you well Flowers

My pain was all in my upper arm. My shoulder ached, but nothing like the intense, worse-than-childbirth pain in my arm.

Bump- Bella, I'd advise you to ask about hydrodilation as a last resort before surgery, only suggesting this as it worked in my own case....

Thank you Bluesheep and Silvercat. (Colourful animals!). I'll definitely look into that. I am in so much pain and have a 1 year old who just gets heavier and heavier (as they do!!).

Did you have any pain in your armpit too? That's quite a new one!

Hi Bella, no pain in armpit although I was asked if I had pain there when I saw the musculoskeletal specialist. My pain was kind of down the centre if my arm, deep inside and also down the outside if arm but not in the actual shoulder. I did have an ultrasound scan as they wanted to see the arm and shoulder moving (or trying to) before having hydrodilation. Hope you get somewhere soon

My pain was on the top of my arm. I had an operation in august. Much better now
