My poor throat!

So I developed this sore throat 3 weeks ago! It isn’t majorly painful, more annoying than anything else! Back of throat has looked like this from day one and hasn’t got any worse nor better! Went to docs 2 weeks ago and he said I had a nasty throat infection and prescribed me penicillin! Took the full course and it’s made no difference! So I took myself off to docs again to see different doctor this Friday just gone and he’s baffled! Doesn’t know what it is! He’s given me a swab kit to do in the morning and drop in doctors to test for infection! But if it comes back negative he says he’ll have to have a look down my throat with a mirror and light as he ain’t got a clue! Which has worried me some what! Anyone else ever had this problem can help perhaps! Long shot I know with doc not knowing but hey you never know!
I have no swollen neck issues, although left side of my neck
Feels thicker when I turn my neck to the left side than the right does! Soreness in my throat is around voicebox area and bottom of neck where it dips in! intermitant cough! Not bad just some days it’s tickle cough! Keep gettin feeling somethings stuck in throat and spits hard to sell low sometimes but not always! I had a breast cancer scare earlier this month so I’ve been suffering abit of anxiety so been getting odd stitch feeling in chest which I’ve put down to anxiety! Doctor did say he was wondering if it was silent reflux GERD and it had irritated back of throat! I have noticed heartburn type of pain this weekend and when I thigh perhaps the odd day inbetween but again anxiety can cause heartburn aswell! Throat does feel raw all the way from back of throat to bottom of chest but it isn’t painful just annoying really! Is anyone suffering anything similar or has and can share their experience?! I’m 37! Think it’s worried me more with doc not having a clue! I asked should I be worried and could it be anything sinister and he shook his head and said no, he was more annoyed with himself for not having a clue!

No idea what yours is but I have swollen lymphoid tissue that consultant doesn't know what's causing it after various tests. He says maybe that's how I am, which seems a bit unsatisfactory! He also says it's not sinister and maybe try Gaviscon though I have no reflux type symptoms. I've had it for months now.

Granulomas?

Debdoo · 22/01/2018 16:45

It’s making my anxiety go through the roof! It’s not got any better not any worse! When I turn my neck sideways the left side feels more uncomfy and thicker than the right! Doctors felt me neck and said it felt fine!
I’m panicking it’s some form of cancer? If it was just a red sore throat I wouldn’t be bad, it’s the swollen bits that concern me! Noticed today they extend onto my tongue on right side that’s down near them! Can’t find anything on google that even resembles them! It explains what they might be!
Is the swollen lymphoid tissue in your throat? X

Google granulomas and could be, but I’ve alresdy had a course of penicillin and it made no difference so doc said can’t be bacterial! Don’t think they can test for viral infections and if of thought even viral would of got better after 3 weeks?!

One bit is right at the back of my throat and then I have a blister thing a bit further forward. GP thought the blister was a cyst but I don't really know. Have you got a ENT referral?

I know what you mean about anxiety though, I've had a whole year of health problems still not resolved. I think you just have to trust your healthcare professionals' judgement or it drives you nuts.

What tests did you have done love? X
