Cervical cyst and petrified

So I had my routine smear on Friday and the nurse found quite a large and irregular shaped cyst on my cervix. The dr came in had a look and asked if I’d had any other symptoms ie pain during sex, irregular bleeding I said no as I couldn’t recall anything. Anyhow they know I’m under a fertility consultant and having an hsg tomoz so they said to tell them at hsg if they could have a look and they would write to my consultant and inform me and that was it Sad
I’m so worried now and haven’t stopped crying now all I can think is I do keep having lower back pain and sharp pelvic pains every now and then. I’m confused if I’ve referred or not for a colposcopy or not. I’m 36 and we have been ttc for over a year for second child hence referral to fertility.
Can someone please offer any advice or reassurance I’m going out of my mind.

Well, ovarian cysts are very common, and women often don't even know that they have them. A lot of the time they come and go without anyone being the wiser. So it isn't necessarily a problem.

Very occasionally a cyst could rupture or twist, which is likely what the doctor is concerned about. So if you do get sudden sharp pain or bleeding, then do seek medical attention.

Sorry, I just re-read that the cyst is on your cervix. That's still not necessarily a big cause for concern. They'll examine it and then depending what's inside and whether it is causing trouble, they could prescribe medication or drain it. It will be ok.

Thanks WhoWants2Know,

I think I’ve done too much ‘googling’ and scared myself. And the reaction of the nurse when she found it was quite alarming as she very quickly went and fetched the doctor who also seemed quite surprised that I hadn’t had any other symptoms.

It’s just the not knowing that I hate Sad
