Ooh, just seen your thread; I'm dealing with the same thing myself. I've been seeing a physio, who told me that straightforward pelvic floor lifts are the best thing, but it's a question of how you do them, as follows:

(1) Pull up really, really tightly - as tightly as you can, even if you have to close your eyes and focus your entire body to do so. Then hold and count the seconds until you feel the muscles start to give a little. This is your baseline time - every time you do this lift you should hold for the same number of seconds (up to a max of 10 secs). Repeat about 5 times.

(2) Pull up really tightly again, but this time don't hold - do 10 quick lifts if you can manage it.

You should do these exercises around 3 times a day, leaning forwards (to engage the muscles which will stop the incontinence) and sitting upright (to engage the vaginal muscles.

You might find that your muscles fatigue quite quickly during the first week or so, but in my experience you find that you build strength quite quickly.

Also, apparently some women who tried stopping on the loo have found that they couldn't start again and got bladder infections! So these days medics recommend that you only 'imagine' you're going to the loo rather than actually doing it mid-flow.

Good luck, Twinkster!
