Hi, I have god awful silent reflux. I've tried so many ppis before - omeprazole, lansoprazole and ranitidine. I've now been prescribed esomeprazole 20mg but google suggests that this is nexium or something that is bought otc so I'm concerned it's not going to be strong enough. Has anyone else tried it?

I've not tried it but it possible to get drugs with a higher concentration of active ingredients from the GP. For instance you can buy paracetamol and codeine from the chemist but my prescription paracetamol and codeine is a lot stronger.

Esomeprazole is considered stronger than most of the other related medicines. You might also want to look at your diet and timing of eating but I'm sure your prescriber talked to you about this.

I've been through all of these but my gp hasn't told me about this one! Good luck I hope it works for you. Smile

I too went through all of them and only esomeprazole worked for me.

I had really bad reflux a few years and I tried everything and esomeprazole was the only one that worked for me. The doctor was not to prescribe ..., I think it costs more to produce. The one the doc prescribed cane in much bigger packets as I would have to take 2 per day

Thank you. I'll give it a whirl.
