..and are following all the advice about not clogging up your GP surgery as there is nothing they can do against colds, flu etc, what do you do regarding being off work? At my workplace We can self certify for a number of days but after that, they demand a sick note. So you have to visit the surgery! Our GP is stretched so much that an appointment takes at least a month, so what do you do? Am I missing something here?

I would ring your GP surgery and explain the circs regarding certification - they might be able to offer a phone appointment.

If you need a sick note just ring the doc and they’ll normally do a phone consultation then leave you a sick note at reception so you can send someone else to pick it up. My doctor does this anyway.

I have had a virus non stop since october. it's been like a really heavy cold, feverish, achey, exhausted, constant cough and mucus, lack of appetite. Gp. checked me over and said it was just tough luck. Took 2 days off work in Nov hoping that would sort it, but it didn't so have been drugging my self up with painkillers ever since. Feel like utter shit but less utterly shit than a week ago.
