Iron and feeling pretty horrendous

I just had a copy of my latest blood results and saw that my ferritin is 7 and my Hb is 100. The doctor hasn’t commented on them yet.

Please can someone decode? I feel exhausted, cold and dizzy.

I wondered if Iron injections might help? Mainly because, I am hideously constipated and don’t absorb tablets well at all...

TIA

Have you had your thyroid levels checked?. What you are describing here could be all indicative of having an underactive thyroid gland.

No - I haven’t actually... will have to look into it!

If your ferritin is that low you ae probably anaemic, i have ferritin levels tested regularly and 7 is far too low, maybe thats why you are feeling cold and dizzy

i felt awful when my ferritin was 11. i have read that 50 is the optimum level.

when my iron was low i felt exhausted, dizzy, chest pain, palpitations, hair fell out, acne.

find a ferrous bisglycinate and take with vitamin C. also eat more red meats and leafy green veg and OJ.

also, although my blood test had bolded my ferritin results, and 11 was outwith their range, my GP never said anything about it! just said i was fine.

i had low haemoglobin and low mean cell volume too, never mentioned by GP. only when i asked for a copy of my results did i decide to take supplements

Above advice is good, the level used to be 50, but at my last blood test i was told it is now 100
Go back to your Dr,he might give you something to bump your ferrin levels up
