Wisdom tooth

Hi all,

I had my lower left wisdom tooth extracted on Friday after weeks of severe pain.

Immediately felt much better and had no pain over the weekend didn't need any painkillers at all, then yesterday I started to get a mild earache which over the night has got worse and is now really painful!

I've looked at the socket and it looks healthy to me, although I'm not an expert so I don't really know what I'm looking for! I have been salt water rinsing and using corsodyl since Saturday night.

Is it normal to get earache after wisdom tooth extraction? Or could it be unrelated or a sign something is wrong with the socket? I've been up all night with my 3 month old as well so really not feeling it this morning! Sad

It’s probably worth giving your dentist a ring if you haven’t already - it could be the beginning of dry socket. I had a lower molar out in the summer and had my partner check the socket with a torch every day, he said it all looked fine although it was bloody sore, and when I went in for the review appointment a week on the dentist said the clot had partially come away. She packed it with a clove mixture and it was fine after that. The fact it has has become steadily more painful rather than start sore, get gradually better would prompt me to ring up, I think.
