Reading an article in the red tops about a lady who has suffered symptoms following essure insertion. Any mumsnetters experiencing anything similar?

Yes. I was actually one of the ladies featured in the essure documentary on the Victoria Derbyshire show. Essure destroyed me. It’s still destroying me. I am permanently disabled and most days bedridden. I have pieces of nickel and PET fibres left inside of me. I am in agonising pain daily. The only saving grace is having had a hysterectomy I am not bleeding heavily daily.
I was a Mum that prided myself on an immaculate home. I had a happy relationship. I had all of my children living with me. I decorated with ease, went to the gym almost daily. Cooked home cooked meals for my children daily. Ran around in the park. Ran. I now rely on other people to help me get to the bathroom. I suffer with incontinence. I am now moving into an adapted house. I use a wheelchair to get from A-B. I have been robbed of my life. The life I should have. Mad to think two little apparently “inert” devices can cause this. From the second they started inserting those devices I was in pain. That pain has not stopped. It’s non relenting. Others have been lucky and have not had symptoms. Their hair hasn’t fallen out in clumps. They haven’t had a drastic change in mental or physical state. I know so many many other women that DO have issues.
I have hit the lowest of lows and have contemplated ending my life to escape the pain essure caused me. No woman, no person, no living being should be made to feel this way. Whilst I accept there are women with no issues, it cannot be ignored that the majority of women, in the thousands, suffer because of essure.

Scarpetta, that's just dreadful.

Thank you for your bravery in raising awareness though - you will have saved many other women suffering in the awful way you have.

I pray life gets easier for you Flowers

Scarpetta, that is truly sad to read. I have a friend in the states who suffered greatly and only improved after a complete hysterectomy. I didn't initially feel like I had adverse side effects until I read the news article. It described leg pain similar to what I have experienced for about a year and put down to sciatica (not responding to physio treatment) i also get bloating which I can live with. I have had high blood pressure and joint pain, which I think gets worse mid cycle. I am now wondering if its all linked? Are you planning to be part of the class action? I heard just weeks after my procedure that it was being pulled.

Oh and how can I watch the documentary?

I can pm you the links if you would like? Am I allowed to post links on here? If I can I will.
There is a class action lawsuit in Scotland atm but that’s a different court system to England

I do plan to be a part of whatever happens in England when I find a suitable solicitor that is more justice led than money led. It’s more than just the money.

Scarpetta1982 · 16/01/2018 19:09

I have had a hysterectomy but the surgeon cut my tubes and left fragments behind

reassureessure · 16/01/2018 20:33

Im in NI scarpetta. Im angry that this was pulled in other countries yet my procedure went ahead, my friend had a radical hysterectomy just a couple of weeks before too. Ironically I paid to go private due to the length of time id waited, two years.! maybe if i had waited i might have not had essure. Scarpetta I am so sorry it went so badly for you. The links would be good. I found oress articles referencing it but no footage,

If you search Victoria Derbyshire YouTube it should come up x
The live is from their twitter page

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 16/01/2018 21:11

My mum is part of the Scottish class action but she had her operation in England before she moved there so not sure how that will work?

It's truly awful the impact it has had on some women - I'm so sorry Scarpetta.

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 16/01/2018 21:13

Oh, hers isn't Essure actually - sorry! I've got completely mixed up, it is of a similar vein though Sad

I hope you get justice for what has been done.

reassureessure · 16/01/2018 21:23

Lifechanges did your mum get the vaginal mesh? That was dreadful too
