sorry if this is a daft question but just wondered.dd has had conjunctivitis this week and now it seems i have it too. i know it can be very infectious, but should i go to work tomorrow? i work in a large secondary school. would be mortified if a child got it from me but is scrupulous hand washing enough to keep at at bay (mine, not theirs! they just don't, mostly!)

In the school where I work, the current ruling is that conjunctivitis isn't contagious (?!) and isn't a reason to be kept off school.

oh im now baffled, as in my son's school they say that the kids shouldn't be at school with eye infections! & are contagious. He attends a Junior school.

thanks BG. part of me thinks i will, as i've felt crap all week with sore throat, aches, sore head etc and part of me worries it might look like slacking as i've only been back at work for two weeks. my eyes hurt and are really runny - YUK!

I thought it was contagous (sp ).
Wouldn`t go personally as its not fair on you or the kids.
Just googled it for you and sounds like viral conjunctivitis as goes hand in hand with common cold sore throat ect.
This is infectious and it says spread easily so stay home x

thanks fb - when i woke up this morning and couldnt open my left eye, i decided to stay put! why dont they tell you in the baby bibles that you'll catch everything they do?!?!

I don't think you should go in. Conjunctivitus IS very contagious, and in a school environment it could spread quickly.

I work ina prison and I did go in with conjunctivitus. I was sent home before I even managed to get to my desk!
