Stomach bug now pooing water

Just as the title says really. I've had a stomach bug this week accompanied by diarrhoea and cramps for the past few days. Now just to mix it up a little I'm pooing water! Has anyone had this before or know the reason why this is happening? Is it because the bowels are completely empty? I've been drinking and still have some appetite.

Sorry, no advice, just to say I have this too. Felt lousy Monday, started throwing up on Tuesday, and diarrhea yesterday and today, despite eating only one piece of toast and the end of a banana in three days. Not sure what to do to get better.

Its just the end result of your bug. Your bowels are empty and are cleaning themselves out, hopefully means the end is in sight! In the mean time make sure youre drinking plenty even if you dont feel thirsty. If you feel like eating great but if not drinking is most important. Lots of hand washing and rest! Hope you feel better soon!

Get some dioralyte down you! Failing that, I'd google the right combo of water, sugar and salt to drink. I would imagine replacing fluids and electrolytes would be the most important thing at the moment.

It will be because you’re completely cleaned out but your bowels are still in D+V overdrive mode. I would keep on drinking plenty (maybe some dioralyte or equivalent) and try some small amounts of very plain, easy to digest food- banana, rice etc. I had this when I gave myself food poisoning once- it was the absolute pits but cleared up eventually once my bowels stopped being on red alert!!

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Colidascope I'm sorry you have this bug too i hope you recover soon. Are you resting? I have slept more hours than I can ever remember I'm exhausted.

Pattern
Does this mean all the infection has gone or am I still contagious?
Every so often I feel dreadful all over again.

name is yes, I'm exhausted too. I'm usually a bit of an insomniac but I've been getting my 8 hours at night and then a couple of hours during the day too. I hope you feel better soon too.

Yes, Nameis, you are still infectious for 48 hours after your symptoms stop!

I had theis once with a bug. I had just returned from India and was vomiting too - couldn't keep my anti malarial down so had to go.to the GP. Doctor asked me to do a stool sample and when I went to hand the offending liquid in the receptionist started explaining to me very s-l-o-w-l-y that they wanted a stool.sample not a urine one Blush

Anyway I just had to wait it out - and she suggested light chicken soup when I felt like eating - knorr chicken noodle!!
