I am hoping that you can help with a mystery ailment I've been dealing with on and off over the last 8 months.
I have very sore and uncomfortable hands. It's a weird feeling in the base of my thumb (the padded bit on the palm) and in the ends of my fingers and thumb. And is worse in the evenings. I thought it might be rsi or carpal tunnel syndrome but ....
I think I can clearly link it to taking lymecycline - a long term antibiotic that i was given to treat rosecea/bad skin. The hand feeling seemed to come on after taking the ABs for about 5 weeks... then when i stopped the treatment, the symptoms started to fade. I then took the ABs on two other occasions (for much shorter periods - 10 days and then 3 days) and again I got the strange hand symptoms.
The only problem is, that this time the symptoms have not faded. And they still hurt! I am now getting on for 4 months since the last ABs and I'm sitting here typing with sore, weird feeling hands.
The doctor has been quite dismissive - though when i last saw the doc, I hadn't made the connection between ABs and the sore hands.
Will they ever get better?
