CFS/FM recovery after a virus

KatyMac · 09/01/2018 17:09

I have CFS & FM but I am pretty much in remission & have been for a few years

I had flu (or a flu like illness) & a tummy upset - started 27th Dec and I am still 'poorly' - getting up and going to the loo equals an hours nap - hardly been out of bed since

Today I felt a bit better and got some fresh air - then slept for 3 hrs

I do not have time for a relapse - any suggestions?

Taking plenty of vitamins (D, B12, Iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium, K & methyl folate - but not really interested in eating and my tummy is still upset

Help?

Have you seen your GP?

KatyMac · 30/01/2018 23:00

Well I think it's fairly normal GP has never treated my ME/CFS

I guess I have been enjoying feeling well for the last 18m/2yrs that I resent it and wanted to prevent it

Viral stuff always wipes me out but this has been a bad one

I should be used to it as I've been diagnosed over 20 yrs it just annoys me

I’ve had CFS for about 15 yrs and I don’t think there’s a one size fits all solution unfortunately.
When I go down, I still go down hard. Sometimes double dosing Echinacea can head off lighter colds. Elderberry drops are also pretty helpful.
Just remember, pushing yourself might get you to work for a day, but it’ll knock you out for an extra 5. Be kind to yourself, it happens to the best of us!

I have a 3 day temp job starting on Monday - I'm quite worried

Rest today, plenty of fluids, get some medicine in your system. If you suffer with swollen glands, get started on ibuprofen now to get them down.
If you need to push yourself in, take fruit snacks, lucozade, fruit juice, squash, whatever you might need to keep yourself hydrated and easy things to eat.
Prepare to fall into bed as soon as you get home so easy dinners like soup will probably be easier for you.
I’m sorry you’re going through this, it always feels miserable after a long period of doing well. Good luck for Monday Flowers

Thanks, DH is dropping and collecting and doing tea
He is also packing snacks for me

I seem to resent it more after remission!
