Hi,
DH has just had a cholesterol test straight after Xmas and it's come up as high. Would the excessive eating and drinking (and there was a lot!) have affected the result?

Hi, yes it would! If he cuts down on the fatty food and cuts back on the booze it should start to go down, has the doc given him statins?

He's just had the letter to say make an appointment, which he has, so we don't know any levels yet.
I just think after 2 weeks of living off chocolate, cheese, beer and wine the results may have been skewed a bit.

My DH was told by his GP not to have a cholesterol test right after Christmas as it was likely to be much higher than usual

I'm usually given a "fasting" cholesterol test not that it would make much difference over the last festive season Xmas Wink, doc might just give him some advice about diet and exercise and retest in a couple of months, good luck.

Thanks both.
