Anal bleeding when peeing

Bit of background: I'm 5 months pregnant and have had a very bad cold for 4 weeks. Was on a short course of antibiotics for a chest infection. 4 days after the antibiotics ended I randomly had extremely bad diarrhoea (I assume there is a link with the diarrhoea and antibiotics but I'm not sure as there was a gap between the two happening).

My bowels appear to be working as normal now but I've been having pain when going to the loo and noticed a tiny bit of bleeding when passing stool. I've been using Germoloid suppositories for 2 days which have helped a lot, but this morning when I was peeing I noticed bright red drips of blood in the toilet which really shocked me! Turns out that it was from my back passage. I've never had this happen before just from peeing. I've not had a poo today yet and I'm really worried about going!

I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow so will mention it but don't know whether to call the GP today? Should I be worried?

Well you should always mention blood coming from where it shouldn’t. From what you’ve said I probsbly wouldn’t worry. Pregnant, pain when pooing and fresh red blood say piles or a tear to me.

Definitely sounds like piles. I've had them with every pregnancy (and a few times since) and always get what you describe x

Yes sounds like piles, even the pressure bearing down to pee could set them off and bleed. Very common in pregnancy too.
