Crackling ears

I had the flu at Christmas time and since then, every time I eat or swallow my ears make this crackling noise, it's driving me mad, I have tinnitus anyway but this is different. Anyone else had this? How do you get rid of it?

Olive oil ear drops

It's probably a bit of fluid trapped behind your ear drum from when you had the flu. It can take a while to properly drain. Try some decongestants and see if that helps. Olive oil drops won't help unless it's caused by wax, but it usually isnt.

It's where your Eustachian tubes became blocked from the cold symptoms of your flu. When you swallow the air is forcing them open and closed causing the crackling / popping. They will clear on their own but decongestants and steaming will help.

Good luck......I've had this in one ear for 18 months since flu and ear infection in 2016. Doctor said it would clear, I've yet to find a cure!

Anti-histamines and decongestants helped me, along with inhaling steam with a dollop of vick in.
