My daughter got sick with scarlet fever on 30/12/17 was really poorly until yesterday 5/1/2018,
She had a sore tummy, headache, high fever, a strawberry tongue, was off food drinking very little & sleep 20 hours a day.
She's fine now thank god.

I seem to have a slightly raised temp, coughing my guts up it's all in my throat kinda of cough.
My bones hurt like crazy,

Did I catch scarlet fever?

Or is this because I stopped smoking on New Year's Eve and I haven't had a fag for seven days at the end of today.
I smoked about 40-60 per week
That's crept up slowly over the last ten years

I've heard you can become poorly when u stop smoking

Either way I feel dreadful
I could just cry cry cry

You could easily have a virus from the symptoms you describe, there's a lot of it about! Equally, you will no doubt get some level of reaction from stopping smoking (well done!); nicotine withdrawal can make you feel crap and your body will be trying to expel the cigarette toxins, which is why a lot of folk get a cough. Your lungs are trying to function normally again and get rid of the tar. I wouldn't worry, if it's either or both of these I'm sure you'll recover!

P.s hope that didn't sound unsympathetic, nicotine withdrawal can be horrible (which is why I'm still vaping) and affect you physically & emotionally. If you've got a virus on top of that you will def feel miserable. Rest up! X

My DS has just had that too. Scarlet fever is a reaction to a certain bacteria (streptococcus pyrogens) so some people who are infected with the bacteria go on to get scarlet fever, but a lot don't.

DS was really poorly until the 24th Dec, I have felt unwell from this Tuesday until yesterday, but no where near as bad as DS and no spots. I did have a cough, aches and headaches and a temperature too.

Hopefully you've just got a mild version.

PS Well done on quitting smoking
