Testicular pain

DS17 told me today that he has had a dull ache in his testicles for approx 2 months. Last sexual partner was 4 months ago. Not experiencing any unbearable or high level pain, no fever, discharge, burning etc that would normally be associated with infection. I know some infections are of course symptom free.

He has been to see GP today who has confirmed that there is a lump and he has been referred for ultrasound & to the GUM clinic. Hopefully he can be seen at clinic tomorrow to rule out STI's. The ultrasound will be next week. The thing is, whilst I appreciate it is more likely to be an STI or some such, I am worried about testicular cancer. Anyone else had a DS go through the same thing? I am being super positive/down playing the issue around DS but I am concerned tbh.

Please try not to worry, the majority of testicular cancers don't present with pain, far more likely to be an STI, or as a result of trauma. Does he play sport abd could have had a bad knock to the area?

Hi Psychobabble. Thanks for replying. I agree that it is far more likely to be STI. But I think the worried mum in me just needed to voice that concern regarding TC because otherwise it is stuck in my head! He hasn't had any trauma to that area - that was the first thing I asked him.

I think what is worrying me is that he isn't in pain as such, just has a feeling of heaviness/fullness and a dull ache - which was why he has just left the symptoms unchecked for so long.

It's funny, we think we will feel less worry as they get older - that's just not true, is it?!
