Onion in room for cough/cold - does it work?

I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant and have a rotten cough these past few days!
Have tried all the natural remedies (lemon, ginger, honey, steam etc) but nothing is working

The cough is really bad at night so I'm not sleeping

Thinking of giving the chopped onion in the room thing a go
I am very desperate for some sleep!

Anyone tried it and have success with it?

I very much doubt that it makes a difference

It does. I have no idea why, but it does seem to stop a tickly cough when nothing bloody else will. Worth a try!

Makes the room honk a bit, though...

I have had awful cold this past week so am propped up almost vertical on pillows, strepsil to suck as I go to sleep, and chopped onion.

Lovely and v glam Hmm

Yes it does work for us

I feel for you, also pregnant and up with terrible cough!

When I was little my mum used to make me milk and honey. I've been making It for myself and it does give me some relief!

Microwave cup of milk for 1 min, be careful of hot cup, stir in teaspoon of runny honey. Lie in bed and sip!

Hope you feel better soon.

Cover your feet in vicks (if allowed in pregnancy!) and socks over the top overnight. Great for coughs.

I don't think eucalyptus is recomended in under 10's...so not sure about pregnancy

Tried it last night
Not sure if it was the onion or if I am just getting better but cough is definitely better!

Managed to get some sleep although was awake a bit with sneezing and coughing but not as bad as previous nights

Thanks for the other suggestions 😊
