Anecdotally I thought cherries were good, peas were bad - I worked for someone whose partner had it and she bought him bagfuls of cherries.

gout is basically the result of too much protein in your diet, which results in high levels or uric acid when the protein is broken down

it can be due to a rich rich rich diet

foods to avoid

red meat
offal
mackerel
sardines
oxo cubes

foods to avoid (but not as much)

poultry
game
other fish
asparagus

foods good for gout sufferers

cherries
dairy products
bread
pasta
nuts
fruit
veg

its ok to eat red meat etc but in low quantities

definitely avoid alcohol
