Ok day 4, was beiginning to feel a little normal and then whoa, Bile Diarrhea hit and wasnt expecting that. Is this normal and does it get better or is this the way it is now. I was told I could eat more or less anything after surgery, have a decreased appetite and have been eating carefully. I know its only day 4 but feel really down, its been all over the christmas period too which hasnt helped. Any success stories with the diarrhea getting better by itself, just read horrible stories of this lasting years. `i guess my fault for googling. I have an appointment to see the consultant again in 4 weeks time but if i have diarrhea after every meal i think thats going to be way too long.

What have you been eating?

I follow a low carb diet and have no problems. I could just be lucky, but might be worth a shot to cut out carbs and see if that makes a difference?

I had it for a couple of months after surgery but it went away on its own. Four days is way too soon to be worrying.

Footie did you take anything for it, fingers crossed I'm the same, thanks for replying.

No I didn't. I did wonder if it was always going to be like this. I had a French friend who'd been told she must never have fat, alcohol or caffeine again ( this was about 12 years ago ) so I wondered if doctors here weren't strict enough. But it settled down as time went on and I didn't need to make any changes.

Don't panic! Happy New Year.

Hi Jenkel, yes I had it too, on day 6 after surgery (my digestion is a bit slow). I foolishly Googled and also panicked that I'd be one of the unfortunate 10% who ends up with long term problems and endless bile diarrhoea. I even invested in moist toilet wipes. Grin

Only had it 2-3 times in that day (gawd doesn't it STING), the next day was completely normal - and I have been ever since. I'm about 6 weeks post surgery now, in fact I feel better than I have done in years!

Don't worry yet, statistically it is very likely that it'll simply fade away. Your bowel is very adaptable according to my surgeon, it just takes some time for it to adjust to a sudden frequent influx of bile.

Thank you, I think I just scared myself half to death reading the horror stories, it's so good to hear positive things as well.
