Blocked ear

Hi,

I’ve had very reduced hearing in my right ear for 4 days now. It started to become painful yesterday and as I was worried about infection, I went to a walk-in centre. After a 4 hour wait Shock the doctor looked in my ear to tell me that ‘a wall of wax’ was blocking it! She’s given me some drops which are supposed to loosen it and told me to use them for 2-3 weeks and then go back if no difference.

Thing is though, it’s horrible! I can’t hear anything except a constant whooshing sound. It’s not unbearably painful, but enough for me to feel uncomfortable and be taking paracetamol. It’s really getting to me! Anyone have any experience of this or any tips to get it moving?

Thanks!

Try pouring a small amount of warm olive oil in the ear for a few days. The gp suggested it for me and it worked. Worked better than the drops.
