Help - Wisdom Tooth Pain!!

7 replies

cupcakesandglitter · 27/12/2017 23:22

I'm going nuts! Three of my wisdom teeth have come out fine and I had zero pain whatsoever.... my fourth one however is coming out and I am in so much pain!

I can't eat anything because it feels like the tooth on top keeps biting into the gum. I don't know what to do, I've taken ibruprofen today (for AF pain) but it's not done anything.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Ps. I have very good oral hygiene and I don't think the gum is infected but just swollen

No help I'm afraid, but sympathy. When mine were trying to push through there would be some weeks where all I could eat was soup. It was awful and in the end I needed them all out. I found pressing down hard on the gum helped the pain, but obviously that only lasts as long as you have your finger jammed in there.
Has your dentist checked it is growing through correctly and that there is enough space for it? If not it might be worth getting it checked over.

@skankingpiglet ah that sucks 😩 I don't know if I can handle having them taken out - bad memories from my childhood 😂

No I've not been to the dentist in a couple of months - I can't leave the house atm due to AF pain so I can't book an appointment to the dentist anytime soon

I had mine out under a GA so it wasn't as awful as some of the stories you hear.

Can you split paracetamol and ibuprofen doses, then keep on top of it to build a level of pain relief? So 12am paracetamol, 2am Ibuprofen, 4am paracetamol etc?

cupcakesandglitter · 28/12/2017 00:49

@skankingpiglet I think I might have to 😩 Thankyou!

Get some Orajel! It’s a lifesaver for me when mine flare up.

Also, I feel your pain and hope you feel better soon!

Clove oil tastes and smells gross but does take the edge off. Also Difflam mouth wash you can buy from the chemist it really helps. Try to sleep with an extra pillow as having your head elevated can ease the pain a bit. Take regular ibuprofen (with food) and also regular paracetamol.

I really feel for you I had the most horrendous wisdom tooth pain whilst I was 4 days away from giving birth. I couldn't take much and gave birth with an ice pack against my face. The tooth pain was much worse then giving birth! Hope you get it sorted.

Emergency dentist? They'll relieve you of your toothache in no time, it'll be a New Year's Eve to remember though but still there are worse ways to spend a New Year's Evening.
