Weird lump?

Owlicorn · 27/12/2017 22:49

I have a small hard, painful lump in between my ribs (just under my boobs). Hurts when I cough or move in a certain way and when I press on it. But isn’t excruciating painful. Feels sort of ‘heavy’. I am driving myself mad googling what it could be and fearing it’s something awful but am at work all day today/tomorrow and won’t be able to get to doctors until Fri morning. Noticed it on Christmas Eve but was away over Christmas and sort of hoped it would go away! Anyone had anything like this? What was it? I’m hoping nothing to sinister if is painful!

Right in the centre? That will be your sternum. If you poke it it will hurt.

Could be a seashell

addler · 28/12/2017 09:46

Yes, definitely a seashell. Or a tooth.

We're just moving this over to General Health at the OP's request.

OP ignore the comments above - there is a very funny thread running at present where people have found the strangest things just under the skin. In ears Etc.

It's probably something and nothing but go to your Dr to get it checked.

Sorry to hear that Flowers

Lisette40 · 28/12/2017 23:40

owlicorn I'm sorry to hear that you'll need surgery but hopefully you'll be feeling more comfortable soon.

LEMtheoriginal · 29/12/2017 00:06

Ouch - i did wonder at hernia but for no reason other than guess. I'd have preferred the seashell!! I hope it isn't too uncomfortable and at least you know it isn't an alien or something nasty (as in its fixable) you may not feel the need to prod it so much and it will not give you too much trouble
