Is this enough to get checked by a GP or will I be wasting their time?

I’ve been feeling unwell for a few months now. Nothing major just generally under the weather.

I’m picking up every bug going round (am a teacher) and am so tired all the time. I currently take a very high dosage of vitamin D daily as I was diagnosed with a severe deficiency about 2 years ago.

I don’t want to waste NHS time but I can’t help feeling that something isn’t quite right, I am always tired no matter how much sleep I get, I regularly have aching arms and legs, I seem to always be ill no matter what I do to protect myself.

Is it worth making an appointment or like DH says just leave it?

I’d definitely get yourself checked. I have Vitamin D deficiency and also have anaemia, which often goes hand in hand with VitD deficiency. My anaemia gives me all the symptoms you are describing.

I would go and ask for a general blood test and check up. I would imagine that if you have been taking such a high level of vitamin d for 2 years it would be good to get your current levels checked.

No definitely make an appointment! They will probably do a blood test and check you over.

You definitely wouldn’t be wasting their time x

Agree with the pp. if you are on any kind of medication/vitamin supplement it's probably good to have a regular check up.

LadyPenelope I did wonder about anaemia as my periods have been really heavy too. I’ll get on to the online system later and book an appointment.

I just want to feel more human like again!

I have just wrote a thread similar to yours. I just feel something isn't right with myself. I am going to make an appointment at the doctors

Scorbus · 10/01/2018 20:38

Saw the doctor today, being sent for a lot of blood tests so hopefully get some answers soon!

Glad you're getting lots of tests. Could be other deficiencies or possibly thyroid. Good idea to ask for print outs when you've had so many esp thyroid in case it's borderline; it's worth keeping a record of that.
