IBS/abdo pain

I've had IBS for 20 years, lots of investigations & everything normal (up until now).

We all had a d&v bug in November and since then my symptoms have been horrendous. I have a few days of feeling okay but then a week of abdominal pain (all over often low down & sometimes high up), diarrhoea (7+ bright yellow watery poos a day), bloating, wind, incredibly noisy bowels. I've tried my usual dietary tricks & nothing seems to help. Painkillers don't help, buscpan is useless. I am so so miserable and increasingly anxious (both of symptoms - I had to abandon a supermarket shop on Friday as I needed the loo now - & that it might be something 'else') which doesn't help at all. It has been this bad before - but not for a long time & only when I've been under massive stress.

I have a doctor's appointment in January but in the mean time does anyone have any words or wisdom or even sympathy :(

I had food poisoning in October and have symptoms almost exactly the same as you since. It isn't helped by not having a gallbladder. The other day, in despair and as a last resort, I took a couple of Imodium. It completely sorted me out for a week. I feel that it gave my system a chance to relax and restore to normal. Might be worth a try for you.

Thank you!

I'll search the cupboard for some Imodium. I'm currently in a boiling bath with the shower pointed at my tummy while the rest of my family have fun - it feels like constant period pains with added random stabbing pains.
