Heavy period

At what point is a heavy period a concern?
about to be TMI sorry

I never usually get periods due to either the implant or pcos. Its normally a few days of spotting occasionally but I am on my 4th day of period and it just seems to be getting heavier. I am on my 3rd pad in about an hour and the first time was through my knickers and jeans too. There seems to be lots of clots and a big one falls out when I first sit on the toilet. Sorry for the tmi but I don’t have this usually so don’t know whether it is a concern or not!

Is there any chance you could get an appointment for a prescription to slow this down? (Tranexamic acid?) At least make Christmas a bit less awful.

I started getting mahoosive periods as part of menopause, is that something you might be starting?

The Menopause section of this site might be helpful.

If you’re soaking through more than a pad an hour this isn’t normal and would advise you ring 111 or go to a walk in centre at least to get checked out, you can get tranexamic acid over the counter at boots, but please seek help at the very least you could end up anemic.

Thansk for the replies. It has slowed down now and will see how it goes. I’m only 25 so hopefully wouldn’t be the menopause
