Hard lump in armpit

Hello

I found a lump in my armpit two days ago. It is just a bit bigger than pea sized, hard, doesn't move very much and not painful. It also has what feels like a hard thin tendon coming off of it?!

I saw my doctor and she is referring me to breast clinic.

Has anyone had this and it be nothing? My dad literally had cancer removed from his body today and it hadn't spread which we are all so happy about but now I'm terrified I'll have it too. I have a little baby girl and I'm struggling to not worry about it over Xmas period

I had a hard lump in my wrist once which turned out to be a harmless water-filled cyst. The important thing is that you have seen a gp quickly and you are on the list to be seen by the appropriate clinic. There are lots of things it could be some of which are not that worrying. If it is the big C then there are now loads of treatments available which didn't exist 20 years ago - the chances are that all will be well in the end. Flowers

I have had a lump in my armpit for 20 years or so. It is a lipoma - just a lump and nothing to worry about. Fingers crossed the same will be true for you. Bear in mind that the vast majority of people who are referred to the breast clinic (and I have been there too) do not have cancer.

Write down on a piece of paper the options for what this lump could be.

Put that piece of paper in an envelope and seal it. Mark to open on Tuesday

Enjoy Christmas with your little girl

You've done everything you can re the lump today, nothing you can do further. So don't waste more time thinking about what you can't do anything about

I am hoping you take this in the positive way I mean it.

I was referred a couple of years ago to the fast track clinic as I had a hard painless lump on my breast. I was so scared and convinced it was cancer but it turned out it was a fatty lump. It's highly unlikely to be anything serious so please try and enjoy Christmas Xmas Wink
