I don't want to be ill for Christmas! How do I get rid of Laryngitis asap please?

Rest your voice completely for as long as possible carry a note pad and pen - whispering is the worst thing you can do. Use a bell 🛎 or something else to get young children’s attention.
Some remedies I have tried in the past.
Lots of fluids hot and cold.
Honey by the spoonful.
Vocal zone tablets sweets from a chemist are quite good.
Gargling with salt water or gargling with soluble aspirin the latter is probably easier.
Take care x

Definitely voice rest. It took me three days to get my voice back earlier this year. There's little else you can do. Wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers

Thanks ladies. Am trying to speak as little as possible & having lots of drinks & honey, lozenges etc. Fingers crossed it goes soon! Typical I get this at Christmas. My 71 year old dad is supposed to be coming over for Christmas day, im not sure whether to leave him in his care home or not. He'll be so disappointed if he doesn't come!

I didn't think laryngitis was particularly contagious?

Absolute rest of your voice and inhalation of steam. My GP told me to sit in the steam room at the gym when I had it (also had sinusitis at the same bloody time).

Hope you can bring your dad home for the day!

Try not to have too many lozenges, they are very drying. Moisture is your friend. When steaming don't have the water boiling hot, it needs to be OK to touch.

Pixiedust1973 · 23/12/2017 20:49

Its more the nasty cough that accompanies it that im concerned about him catching Vivienne. Still, he's a big boy. Ill give him the option of what he wants to do! Will go do some steaming! Thanks again ladies! Smile

Its usually caused by a viral infection.
Its probably quite contagious?

I took Ibroprufen, Codeine, salt water gargle every 30 mins & Difflam mouthwash & Dequidin Lozenges that contain antiseptic & anesthetic.

No one ever seems to catch it off me when I've had it.
Mine only seems to last 1-3 days, so would be fine tomorrow. Then again, I'm more of a watcher than a talker, anyway.

My voice is much better, but I do feel like crap! Its either a really bad cold or flu! Hopefully will feel better in the morning!
