Appointment to give blood. Cold sore. Do I cancel?

I have an appointment to give blood for the first time on Xmas eve.
I noticed when I booked it that an active cold sore is a reason that you are not able to give blood. Low and behold I woke up with a beauty brewing yesterday.
I'm not sure what constitutes an "active" cold sore and whilst it's likely to just be a scab by Sunday I know the blood service prefer 72 hours notice of cancellation and I don't want to tie up an appointment if I can't use it. They do seem to be short of donors at the moment.

Should I cancel today?

Maybe give them a call to ask if it’s ok or maybe best to reschedule?
