Anyone had one? I'm due to have one in 2 weeks time and just wondered if they tell you any findings at the time or if they send results to the doctor? Also wondered what to expect Confused

Not sure if it's the same but I've had loads of internal ultrasound scans. Mine were to check progress of pregnancy.
Each time the sonographer was the person telling me what was seen as there was no Dr to report to.

Is it a general pelvic scan for another reason? Do you have a consultant in charge of your issues?

I've had a few recently for ovarian cysts and fibroids.

It's basically like a thin vibrator that's nor turned on.

You do not get the results that day unless you are seeing the gynaecologist straight afterwards.

It's my doctor that has referred me because a Ct scan for something else showed enlarged lymph nodes and a trace of fluid in the pelvis, so not pregnancy related.

How long did your results take to get to your doctor?

I had one recently - the sonographer told me she could see fibroids which was not what we were looking for but could explain the problems I'm having!

Blackteadrinker77 · 19/12/2017 16:25

I had an appointment with the gynaecologist later that day.

That was in September and I have to have a vertical cut hysterectomy tomorrow.
After the ultrasound they ordered an MRI which I had 2 weeks after that.

I had one recently for a suspected ovarian cyst and she told me the results straight away but sent a more detailed report to my GP.

Even if they do tell you a certain amount at the time, you should be prepared to wait for the full report as it may well give a result in context.

I’ve had lots of internal pelvic ultrasounds. Some sonographers chat about what they’re seeing as they scan you, others sit in stony silence and tell you that the results will be with your gp/gynae within X number of days.

I’ve had my gp on the phone the next day with results, other times I’ve waited a week. I suppose that will depend on how things are done/how busy they are in your area.

Hope it all goes well Flowers

I had one last week. Ive had a few. I hate dildo-cam but you get the clearest picture this way

Ftumch · 19/12/2017 16:31

I had one a couple of weeks ago, the doctor had the results within a week.

PollyPerky · 19/12/2017 19:18

If you ask, they might tell you.

trinity0097 · 19/12/2017 19:20

I had one in September, she told me she found nothing and all was normal. Not sure if she would have said anything if she had found anything!

Lily2007 · 20/12/2017 00:48

I had a scan recently (not pelvic) and the lady told me everything looked normal and she would answer basic questions. It may depend who you get though.

I had one in August on a Thursday and had an appointment on the following monday and got the result then so only a few days, I had it for a womb check and all was ok, thought I might to have a colposcopy but I didn't need one
It wasn't painful or uncomfortable at all
