So I

  • try to get at least 5 fruit and veg a day
  • exercise regularly
  • get my smear test done on time

etc but I really cannot bring myself to floss. Am I the only one? My dentist is telling me to do it but my teeth are really really close together so it's not easy. And I just hate doing it. Please tell me to do it or tell me it's ok not to bother...

My teeth are actually pretty healthy but since being pg my gums have been bleeding a little. Dentist said this should stop when I stop bfing but I should floss too.

Flossing - ugh.

mine exactly the same and same happend when pg, get some cortisol mouth wash from them(or from chemist) and use that, i still cant do it, makes them bleed more so just brush as best i can, mouth wash, and have reg scale and polish done.

I was always dreadful with flossing, but my hygienist got me to use the TePe interdental brushes and I'm a complete convert - different sizes for different sized gaps, and really easy to do. YOu can get them in Waitrose and I think Tesco too. (here endeth the advertisement)

those are what my detist got me to buy, the smallest red ones, but still ddnt work, there is literally no gap between some!

PinkChick · 19/04/2007 15:48

loopylou6 · 19/04/2007 16:07

margoandjerry · 20/04/2007 14:54

I have the thinnest tepe things (the red ones) but they don't fit between some of my teeth and make them bleed. Any advice on how to use them other than just poking about? Oh and how do you clean them? Dentist said each one should last a week but...bleugh

I can't floss either so instead I use something called Waterpik which flushes, at a high pressure, water or mouth wash in the gaps between teeth- so easy.

MissGolightly · 20/04/2007 15:10

I hate flossing too, and my previous dentist was always going on at me about it - honestly you would have thought my teeth were on the verge of falling out instead of being perfectly healthy.

But then we moved and I changed dentists and my new dentist doesn't seem to give a toss about floss, to coin a phrase. So I think it may be a personal thing some dentists are keener on than others...
