Broken rib

So. I definitely broke a rib this morning. No bruising but it hurts like hell. I know it’s broken because I can feel and hear it moving when I move Hmm

Anyway, everything I have read says that if I spend hours trecking to A&E there is pretty much nothing they can do apart from some pain relief (and I have some codeine left here from a c section that I never used)

I don’t want to waste their time (or mine tbh) but surely if I can physically feel it moving it is never going to heal?

I also appreciate it’s not actually an accident or an emergency as I have struggled on all day with it, but I assume the Gp tomorrow will just send me up there for an x ray anyway.

Any advice please, as it hurts like buggery but I don’t want to waste their time at the hospital.

Thanks

go to hospital, you do not want to be moving about with a broken rib, it should be xrayed.

I could have written the same post, think I broke a rib on Sunday night, been awful sleeping and sitting. I've been taking painkillers and keeping active as it hurts less that way. I think unless trauma is involved (ie risk of rib penetrating lung) then it's just painkillers for it. I literally feel your pain :(

Go. If it's just fractured there's not much they can do, but if you can feel it moving it might be fully separated. That can be dangerous. The jagged edge of the bone can damage your internal organs.

Redpriestandmozart great handle! I love Vivaldi, and what an interesting life story he had.
