Blood tests can't be read

Hi all. What does it mean when you've had blood tests done but the doctor writes to you asking you to get them repeated?

I spoke to the receptionist who said it's because they can't be read.

May have been contaminated or maybe they lost it ? Lots of reasons really. I’ve had this many times. A bit annoying.
